Deep- A Poem for Speakeasy

This is my entry for the speakeasy competition #161, Deep.

.

The clouds shifted, casting

an ominous shadow on the ground.

The shadow

deepened, darkened

became solid, became

absent.

A hole in the earth

reaching in

coring out

a void to the

center

a toothache in the world

that still paled

that was still

a mere divot

compared to the hole

you left in my

heart.

  1. Beautiful work! I love the imagery and the way you build to that perfect ending. Great use of the prompts! :)

  2. I like the description of the hole as a toothache in the world. The ending packs a punch, as that hole was made out to be immense and formidable… but it is nothing compared to a broken heart.
